Homestead by the River, is a family campground. Owned and operated by Chris & Ruth King with the help of George King, Chris's father and Laurie. 2008 will be our 10th year that we have owned the campground. It was a campground in the past, but had not been used for over 15 years. We have upgraded the electrical and water lines. Cleared sites, and found a few! We have put in a new children's play area, basketball court, planted trees and are in the process of upgrading the bathrooms. The campground is surrounded by the Saco River on three sides, great for swimming, fishing (small mouth bass, brook trout, pickerel, sun fish and frogs!) canoeing and kayaking. Bring your own or rent from us. Our sites, we have been told that they are large. Our tents sites, we can offer shaded or sunny sites, the same with the RV sites. Pull through or back in. RV sites near the river do not have sewer, but we do have sewer sites if needed. You can spend the day at Old Orchard Beach with the crowds and noise, or other less crowded beaches then come back to the homestead for peace and quiet. Each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring. Trash pickup, throughout the day. We have a small area with animals that you can meet, feed and become friends with! You can buy fresh eggs from our chickens (you may have to order them the day before) buy fresh milk and veggies from Harris Farm, walk and get ice cream from Gonnevilles Ice Cream Stand. Plus many more farm stands in the area. Homestead is a "Family" campground, your children can bring their bikes and ride around safely while you watch the river go by.
